Academics

Academic programs are the core of the Institute functions. They comprise three basic activities – education, research and services as articulated in the mission statement of the GGS Group of Educational Institutions. The academic activities are currently divided between Departments and Laboratories. The emphasis in the departments is on education and theoretical research, while that of the laboratories is on interdisciplinary research and service. The departments are responsible for getting the students through the theoretical curriculum which leads to award of degrees, while the laboratories are primarily engaged in assisting the students to gain hands on practical knowledge.

ACADEMIC PATTERN: At GGSCMT, the semester pattern is followed. An academic year consists of two semesters. The odd semesters  begin in June and the even semesters in December.

CLASSROOM METHODOLOGY: Qualified faculty members assigned with various subjects prepare course plan using the standard format provided by the institution with emphasis on ‘learning outcomes’. The instructional or lecture delivery of the faculty is through a set of educational technology/ tools conceived and developed by the faculty. The lectures lay emphasis on the following:

  •    Knowledge content (topics in the curriculum)
  •    Utility value – application in real life
  •    Latest developments

The classroom session are interactive and encourage the students to think independently and inspire their creativity. The faculty ensures that the students in the class have assimilated and content projected. High level of discipline is maintained in the classrooms. The faculty members are empowered to curb any disturbance and ensure that the time is used fruitfully. To this effect, students are expected to maintain decorum and refrain from causing any disturbance in the classroom. Camera, cell phones are prohibited in the campus. Students are advised not to carry cell phones to the classrooms and laboratories.

Classroom instructions are supplemented by students’ presentations and guest lectures by external/internal experts.

LABORATORY METHODOLOGY: Laboratory sessions are given utmost importance at the GGS-Sachdeva Group of Educational Institutions. All the students are expected to be regular and learn the practical aspects of the subject, which are necessary skills to become high end professionals.

In order to facilitate interaction among the students and develop team spirit, the students carry out experiments in groups.

ASSIGNMENTS, MINI PROJECTS & SEMINARS: Students are continuously assessed throughout the course and due weightage for this is given in the final assessment. Assignments/mini projects/ seminars by students form part of continuous evaluation for both theory as well as lab classes. Faculty members inform the students about the topics and due dates for the assignments /mini project / seminar well in advance and motivate the students to complete in time. Evaluation for these are based on the following:

  • Originality
  • Creative ideas
  • Research papers Referred
  • Presentation Skills
  • Technical Contents

Students doing exemplary mini projects, preferably working models are suitably rewarded.

INSTITUTIONAL & INDUSTRIAL TRAINING: All the B.Tech students undergo an Institutional and an Industrial Training for a period 1 month & of 6 months respectively.

The industrial training report is submitted to the respective HODs, followed by further OHP slides or PowerPoint presentation.

PROJECT WORK: The Final year B.Tech. Project work is done individually or in a group. Considering the intellectual capacity and creativity of the students, it is ensured that there is research component in every project. Project review and evaluation is jointly done by the Project Guide, the Project Coordinator and the Director.
